PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating the shooting of an 18-year-old male in the arm in broad daylight Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before 4:15 p.m., the victim, a Paterson resident, was in the area of Union Avenue and Kearney Street to meet an acquantaince to discuss a personal matter, according to Lt. Patrick Murray of the Ceasefire Unit. The victim's acquaintance brought a second male with him, an argument ensued.
"During the argument, the male companion produced a handgun, at which time the victim attempted to flee the area on foot," Murray said. "While fleeing, at least one shot was fired at the victim and he was struck in the upper left arm."
The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center by a friend and is in stable condition. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detectives Rolando Polio or Dave Tanis of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
