SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The latest update from the Township of Springfield as of Wednesday, Jan. 20 has the latest cumulative local cases and deaths recorded, as well as an update about the number of doses of vaccine administered in the county and state.

Since Friday, January 15th, Springfield had 24 new cases, totaling 920 cumulative positive tests and 27 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. The breakdown of the 24 new cases is as follows:

  • 10 Females Ages 20s-50s
  • Seven Females Aged 60+
  • One Male Aged less than 10
  • Four Males Ages 20s-50s 
  • Two Males Aged 60+

Overall, Union County had 1,229 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 new deaths, totaling 42,217 positive tests and 1,439 COVID-19 related deaths. New Jersey had 21,421 new cases of COVID-19 and 314 new deaths for a total of 576,720 positive tests and 18,543 COVID-19 related deaths. The latest statewide hospitalization numbers are as follows:

  • 3,547 patients are hospitalized 
  • 635 patients are in critical care
  • 432 patients are on ventilators
  • 382 patients were discharged
