FANWOOD, NJ -- Mayor Colleen Mahr and Santa Claus helped welcome the holiday season on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the North Side of the Fanwood Train Station, where the historic station building was opened to the public.

The celebration included carols performed by singers from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, holiday-themed crafts hosted by Boy Scout Troop 104, cookies and hot chocolate, and, of course, photos with Santa under a big tent.

Susan Schuman also led the crowd in a celebration of the first night of Hanukkah.

"The Fanwood Recreation and Public Works Departments worked hard to get the tent up and make this event happen once again," said Mayor Mahr. "Thanks to all of our volunteers who assisted at the North Avenue lawn of our historic train station."
