3 Teens Arrested in South Orange with Open Alcohol in Car

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Three teens were arrested and charged with possession of alcohol.

Three 17-year-old boys, two from South Orange and one from Maplewood, were arrested when an officer found they had open alcohol containers in the car they were driving at about 11:45 p.m. on March 8.

In a separate incident, one person was arrested on charges of criminal trespass.

Russell Winkler, 62, with no known address, was taken into custody when he tried to enter the campus of Seton Hall University at approximately 8:30 p.m. on March 8.  Police said he had been told multiple times not to return to the campus.

In other police news:

  • An Academy Street resident told police that someone stole a black metal mailbox from his front porch sometime between March 7 and March 8.
  • A Seton Hall University student reported that someone stole a bicycle from a bike rack near the campus library sometime between March 3 and March 6. The bike, which was secured to the rack, is described as a burgundy road bike with yellow trim.
