WESTFIELD, NJ — Did your children learn under Westfield Tamaques Elementary School Teacher Anne Marie Petriano? Did you? If so, someone’s looking for you.
After almost 30 years of teaching at Tamaques Elementary School, Petriano is retiring. When asked what she would like as a parting gift, she said the one thing she would truly appreciate would be a photograph of all the students she has taught at Tamaques.
While it may not be possible to gather every student from three decades of teaching, Principal Michael Cullen is working to get as many together as possible for a group photograph on Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m. at Tamaques Elementary School.
“She ends every Back-To-School Night presentation with the same words: 'I haven't worked a day in my life,’” said Cullen. “Anne Marie loves her students and cherishes the time she spends helping them learn and grow. Mrs. Petriano's students leave her classroom with a clear understanding that they are special and capable of achieving great things.”
