Anthony Rizzo is a MSD graduate and first baseman for the Chicago Cubs. He is also a cancer survivor. At the start of his professional baseball career, Rizzo was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at just 18 years of age. Four years later he started the non-profit Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation. The Foundation raises money to support cancer research and the families fighting the disease. This year the walk has already surpassed their goal of raising one million dollars. Funds raised by today’s walk will benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and direct grants to families battling cancer.
