LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Livingston varsity wrestling team opens its season in the Hopatcong Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 9 a.m.
Last season, the Lancers put together an 18-9 mark, but this year, matching that mark will be a challenge, as Livingston has been elevated to the more competitive American Division of the Super Essex Conference.
Returning wrestlers include seniors Sean Neary, Drew DiGangi, Jason Wittlinger, David Ferreira, Austin Paris and Nick Boffa, juniors Michael Petrillo and Alessandro Zacheo and sophomore Charles Lee.
Four freshmen whom coach Ernie Cuneo expects contributions from are Zach Vera, Max Lee, Eddie Padilla and Stratos Kantanas.
"We're looking to compete with the best teams in the area," Cuneo said of the move up in the conference. "It's a great opportunity, and we can't wait to get started."
Following the Hopatcong Tournament, Livingston will wrestle at Bloomfield on Dec. 19, then host its first home match Dec. 21 against Orange.
