WEDNESDAY
  • At 4:01 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for northeast New Jersey, including West Essex. The Warning is expected to be in effect Wednesday from 12 a.m. until 6 p.m. The Warning was issued because of the likelihood of heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain. 
     
    • All State offices - CLOSED 
    • "I encourage all New Jerseyans to drive carefully and remain off the roads if possible"
    • Due to a potential mixture of hazardous travel conditions, fallen trees, power outages and flooding are anticipated
    • Speed Restrictions are in effect on New Jersey highways
       
  • Snow began falling in the West Essex area just after midnight and switched over to Freezing Rain by 5 a.m. There will continue to be a Likely to Definite chance of Freezing Rain and Sleet until 6 p.m.
