Why are you running for Town Council?

I am running for council because I believe it is time for reasonable people to step up and keep Scotch Plains on track.  I have lived in Scotch Plains for 16 years and I have seen things happen that as a taxpayer, disturbed me! In my opinion, we need a responsible, reasonable council that makes decisions that make sense for the residents of SP. This is an awesome community that has been good to my family and I would like the opportunity to do my part in keeping Scotch Plains a great place to call your home. It would bring me a great sense of pride to be of service to this community.

Tell us about your career and how your work and life experience will be beneficial in your role as a Councilperson (if elected):

I am a plumber by trade with a NJ Master Plumber License. In 1993, I entered the apprenticeship program and worked through the classifications of Journeyworker, Foreman, and General Foreman. I have served on the Plumbers Local 24 Finance Committee (2003-07), the Executive board (2007-15), and as President (2015-16). In 2016, was appointed to the current position of Business Agent for Plumbers Local Union 24.

Through this time I protected the trade jurisdiction of the UA, compelled employers to observe and respect collective-bargaining agreements, adjusted all grievances between members and employers with justice and fairness, fostered and promoted employment for the members, as well as making sure that the union's funds and other assets are properly accounted for and used solely for the benefit of the union and its members.

What are the issues that you think are most important in Scotch Plains?

Many residents are concerned with the impact rebuilding downtown may have on their taxes, parking, and the possible increase in traffic. Affordable housing brought into question issues about how it will affect our schools, safety, emergency and recreational services. What will this growth do to our current infrastructure? Taxes, open space, town & school safety are important common issues as well.

What should people know about you that they might not know already?

I am a veteran of the Gulf War. I served our country for 6 years in the United States Marine Corps and earned the rank of Sergeant. I am not a talkative person I am a person of action. Some would say mission oriented. Just let me know what needs to be done and I will do whatever with in my power to get it accomplished.

What else would you like to say?

We deserve a financial responsible council that will always be thoughtful, transparent and honest with its decision making process to ensure that the residents are getting their fair share of resources. The council needs to make wise financial choices! I am seeking your vote to allow me to fight for you! is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily paper.
