HIDDEN TREASURE, an evening of six original one-act plays, four of which are written by area playwright Eric Alter, the other two plays are written by Catherine Canner O’Mealy and Kurt Davis, will be performed at The Grove Street Theater, located at the Deron School of NJ, 130 Grove Street, Montclair, beginning Friday night , November 12th , 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Alter, who began his playwrighting career years 10 years ago debuted his first ever plays at The Deron School. That night was called Under The Apricot Sky, and debuted 6 one-acts. Since then, he has gone on to write 100 plays, of which many have been produced and performed throughout the country. Alter is the Executive Producer of Apricot Sky Productions, which makes their home at newly named Grove Street Theater, which is located at the Deron School of New Jersey.
Eric Alter a 10 year resident of West Orange is excited about the evening and hopes "West Orange residents will come out and see a great night of theater. As someone who lives in West Orange, I am proud to keep my work close to home.”
Hidden Treasure is an evening of 6 original one-act plays that range from the heavy drama to hysterical comedy. They include: Confession in the Clouds, a comedy about a couple’s airplane flight that goes off the beaten path; Hidden Treasure, a bittersweet tale about an old man searching for treasures on the beach; A Man’s Package a comedy about love and what one is willing to give up for love; Absolutely, Positively, 100% Love a comedy about love in a port a john of all places,Battles Inside the Cerebral Cortex, a surreal comedy about a woman’s battles with both guilty and non-guilty consciences; and Trying On, a comedy/drama about a woman who trying on her bridal gown as her friends offer their advice on the dress and on her soon husband to be.
There will be three directors, they include: Sharon Burde, Robert Lowy and Kurt Davis.
The cast includes: Maura Grego, Vito Visocci, Brenna Padesky, Marc Gettis, Cy Friedman, Kurt Davis, Paul Jason Taylor, Kevin Alan Ramsey, Melissa Zakri, Stephanie Rosenberg, Emily Williamson, Marissa Clemens and Mandy Fisher.
The plays are being performed for 6 shows.
