WEST ORANGE, NJ - 8 to 8 Barbershop has received a prestigious grant through its membership with the Downtown West Orange Alliance and its affiliation with Main Street NJ, a comprehensive state revitalization program that "helps to promote the historic and economic redevelopment of traditional business districts in New Jersey".
8 to 8 was selected to receive 12 months of Silver Linings Action Plan (SLAP)
training to help them develop successful business strategies. They will also be able to utilize SLAP business software at no cost, with a value of over $3,000.
"SLAP staff will be in touch with each and every business below over the next few days to get this process rolling," said Jef Buehler, Director of the Main Street NJ Improvement District programs.
Brittany Chiles and Jason Robinson, co-owners of 8 to 8, were thrilled to receive the SLAP grant. Said Chiles, "We are very pleased to be working with the SLAP experts. As a company looking to empower entrepreneurs in the barbering industry through the expansion of 8 to 8 Barber Shop, SLAP will not only support us in achieving our growth goals, but teach us how to better assist entrepreneurs, specifically barbering professionals. I hope this achievement will also encourage fellow small businesses owners to get involved, look for and utilize local resources, and to make the time investment, which is sometimes critical, to organize and strategize for a more effective growth process in business."
ohn McElroy, President of the Downtown West Orange Alliance, said, "The West Orange Downtown Alliance is very excited that 8 to 8 Barbershop has been awarded a free membership in the SLAP program."
Main Street Development holds quarterly meetings addressing the four points to address revitalization of historical downtowns: organization, economic restructuring, design, and promotion.
"This is one of the many free opportunities for our Downtown entrpreneurs to take advantage of, grow their busineses and prosper through the many programs offered by the Downtown West Orange Alliance," McElroy noted.
