The Bernards Area Networking Group had its bi-weekly meeting yesterday at the Olde Mill Inn. The group's main focus is on expanding business connections for those in the community.
"I found a group of people that share common values and goals. [It's a] friends helping friends environment," said Walter Pardo, founder and managing partner of Wealth Financial Partners.
The BANG meeting started with introductions of each individual businessperson, who ranged in profession from flooring salesman to auto mechanic to lawyer. The 30 people or so that attended the meeting gave updates and accolades to those that had helped them recently from the group.
One of the core aspects of the group is the motto, which is know, like and trust. They noted that one of the main goals of the group is for professionals to mingle with each other, to get to know each other’s business, and to refer others to the group’s services.
Barbara Long of Wabba Travel was this week’s speaker. She talked about the travel industry and how she got her start. She detailed her life travels in New York, Nigeria and Australia and how her love for travel turned into a now 40-year business.
One noteworthy aspect of the presentation was that Long said that one of the reasons that Wabba travel, and travel agents in general, are important are that online resources “can’t get the service we give."
According to Pardo, the best part of Long's speech was her, "Passion. I love people that love doing what they do."
