A Message to the Graduates

As we all know, the end of the school year signals a milestone day for the seniors attending SPHS:  graduation.

At times I remember my graduation like it was yesterday.  Other times, it seems centuries ago.  One of the things I most remember, though, is the feeling that I was starting a new chapter in my life.

Little did I know that after growing up in town I would be back to serve as its mayor.  Yes, I knew I wanted to live in my hometown and raise my family here, but if you had asked me on my graduation day, I would never have guessed I’d be in a position to serve our community like this.

Graduation day reminds me how important it is to keep our community strong.  South Plainfield has always had that hometown atmosphere—the type that makes you feel at ease.

I hope our graduates remember that feeling, regardless of where their lives take them.  South Plainfield will always be their hometown—emphasis on the word home.

As graduation draws nearer, I wish all our graduates the best life has to offer.
