"A Streetcar Named Desire" Opens at Westfield Community Players

April 17, 2014 at 11:59 AM

Westfield Community Players will close out it 2013-14 season with Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize winning drama, "A Streetcar Named Desire". It is being directed by Brian Remo and produced by Steve Lemenille.

"A Streetcar Named Desire" reveals to the very depths the character of Blanche du Bois, a woman whose life has been undermined by her romantic illusions, which lead her to reject , so far as possible, the realities of life with which she is faced and which she consistently ignores. The pressure brought to bear upon her by her sister, Stella Kowalski, with whom she goes to live in New Orleans, intensified by the earthy and extremely "normal" young husband of Stella, Stanley Kowalski, leads to a revelation of her tragic self-delusion and, in the end, to madness.

"A Streetcar Named Desire" opens May 10 and continues May 17, 30 and 31, 2014 at 8PM; and a matinee performance on May 18, 2014 at 3PM. Tickets are $20.00.
