Members of the South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club, SPARC, will be participating in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise, June 22 & 23, at Spring Lake Park on Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield.

Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend and learn about “ham radio”.

For more than 100 years, Amateur Radio (also called ‘ham radio’) has allowed people from all walks of life to experiment with electronics and communications techniques as well as to provide a free public service to their communities during a disaster or emergency.

Setup will begin at 10 a.m. on June 22nd and the communication exercise will run for 24 continuous hours into June 23rd.
