Andrea Staten Takes Oath to Fill Seat of the Late Randy Sandifer in Roselle’s 3rd Ward

June 19, 2014 at 8:53 PM

ROSELLE, NJ - Wednesday evening the residents of Roselle witnessed the official swearing in ceremony of Andrea Staten to the Roselle Borough Council. Ms. Staten was chosen to fill the seat of the late Randy Sandifer who suddenly passed away. Mr. Sandifers daughters also stood with Ms. Staten as she proudly took her oath to fulfill the duties of 3rd Ward Councilwoman.

Councilwoman Staten has been a Roselle resident since 1997 and is an outstanding community leader who has given back to many worthy causes. She volunteers as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and also devotes her time to the Recreation Department, Pop Warner Football and at almost any event in town.

According to Mayor Jamel C. Holley, "as a public servant she has soared to new heights during her previous service as a Class V Commissioner on the Roselle Planning Board. It was during this period, through her examination of proposed planning projects first-hand, where Andrea became more passionate about her vision for collectively achieving the continued revitalization of the Borough, inclusive of safe, clean streets, thriving businesses and a competitive school system."

Andrea, better known to most people in the town as “Sunshine” is the mother of an eleven year old daughter and an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark.

“The Borough Council and I are very excited to welcome Councilwoman Staten to our team and know that she will become an important contributor to the ongoing renaissance we are seeing in Roselle”, said Mayor Jamel C. Holley.

The community looks forward to Councilwoman Staten's voice and presence as she represents the residents and businesses of the 3rd Ward.
