MAPLEWOOD, NJ - This Sunday is the annual MayFest Street Fair celebration in Maplewood with live music, performances on two stages, and the chance to meet the artists who created the new Springfield Avenue murals, as well as to experience a "mural painting in progress," according to event organizers.
The festivities take place on Springfield Avenue on Sunday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday's line-up includes:
Stage One, on the corner of Prospect and Springfield Avenue, featuring live music from local bands:
11 am - In Tune School of Music
12 pm -Theater group
1 pm - Israeli Disco
2 pm - Los Traficantes del Amor
3 pm - Moodring
4 pm - Maplewood Jr.
Stage Two, on Yale and Springfield Avenue, features a DJ and performances by local businesses:
12:30 pm - Blue Life Karate
1:30 pm - Inspirational Dance Co.
2:30 pm - LaChaney’s Dance & Music Academy
Local residents Michael and Viktorija will be painting their mural “I Am Maplewood” during the event, and the artists will have information on their backgrounds as well as samples of their art to view and purchase, according to information from Springfield Avenue Maplewood (SAM).
The SAM booth, which will be located on Springfield Avenue near Prospect, will provide visitors with the opportunity to enter to win an Amazon Echo donated by Woolley Home Services, a “Pretty in Pink Gift Basket” (a bottle of Rosé and two tickets to the Pretty in Pink Rosé Tasting) and a $100 Verjus Gift Certificate.
