LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Crossing Church of Livingston is readying a team of 14 individuals for a “Trip2India” to care for orphans.
The team will travel with the organization World Orphans to Hyderabad, India to care and spend time with orphans doing activities such as skits, crafts, songs and games. In addition to sharing love through these activities they will also be bringing donated school and hygiene supplies to the orphan homes.
To help fund the trip, an Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser has been scheduled to help benefit “Mission2India.” Breakfast will include pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs and beverages.
The money will be used to cover the trip costs for the team,” explained Team Leader Becky Hoffman. “This includes airfare, lodging, food, water, transportation, insurance, etcetera. A portion of the team’s budget will also be used as a donation to orphans and their caretakers. Finally, over $600 of the total team budget will be used for supplies to donate to the orphans. This will include dental and hygiene supplies, sports equipment, and school/craft materials.”
The fundraiser will take place on July 13 from 8:00 a.m.to 10:00 a.m. at Applebee’s located at 240 Rt. 10, East Hanover.
The price for Adults is $15 and Children under 12 are $10. Over 50 percent of the ticket price will go to benefit the missions trip.
“I think that the community should support this mission because it is all about connecting with people on a global scale,” said Team Member Kim Kirnan. “There is no greater joy than to love and be loved and this outreach is showing these children that not only are they unconditionally loved by God but they are loved by people that they never even met. It illustrates the compassion of man-kind and everyone should have the opportunity to be a part of it.”
