In addition to the art contest, they are giving the community a checklist to refer to and a Certified Tree Safety Professional to call for a free assessment of possible hazards. The contest rules and tree safety checklist are attached.

Friendly Tree Experts has also launched a tree hazard awareness and education program for the public to help make them aware of possible hazards on their property. They said that after three years of extreme weather, many area trees have suffered damage to their roots and limbs resulting in broken and hanging limbs that pose a serious hazard to the people of community.

The goal of the program is to inform homeowners and businesses what to look for in their trees and how to protect both themselves and their trees with preventive maintenance.
