MAPLEWOOD, NJ - A 16-year-old male from Newark was arrested for committing the March 25 armed robbery of a Maplewood mail carrier.
On Friday, March 28, members of the Maplewood Police Department Detective Bureau along with investigators from the United States Postal Inspectors Office arrested the minor after an “extensive investigation based on old fashion police work,” according to the Maplewood Police Department.
The weapon that was used by the juvenile was recovered and turned out to be a pellet gun replica of a Beretta pistol. The juvenile was charged with armed robbery and remanded to the Essex County Youth House. The investigation is ongoing, as the identity of the juvenile’s accomplice is still unknown.
