PATERSON, NJ - An arrest has been made in connection with the mid-day shooting that left a Hillside man with non life-threatening gunshot wounds Saturday.

As previously reported, the incident took place on Broadway, between Carroll and Lake Street at approximately 1:20 p.m.. When police arrived to the area they found evidence of a crime scene but no victim. A short time later members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that the victim had arrived at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center seeking treatment.

In a statement Sunday Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announced that based on an investigation Yusef M. Page, 18, Paterson was identified as the shooter and was arrested later in the day, charged with several crimes including attempted murder and possession of a defaced firearm.

Page was reportedly located in the area of Hamilton Avenue where police say he attempted to pull a firearm from his waistband. After a struggle, Mr. Page was detained and arrested. 

Based on the most serious charge Page faces up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison.
