Art Gala at Sparta High School

SPARTA, NJ- Sparta High School presented their Arts Gala in May.  The media center, cafeteria, auditorium and several other areas of the school were transformed by exhibitions of fine and performing arts. 

There were sculptures using various media including corrugated cardboard, clay and even plastic bottle caps.  Drawings, paintings and collages also incorporating various media including watercolor, oils, pencil, many used in combinations, presenting  a wide range of subject matter.  There were animals, shoes, angel wings and even an oversized skateboard.  Photographs, including many that have won awards,  were also included in the exhibit.

It was an interdisciplinary exhibition with submitted works from Science, English and Spanish classes, in addition to the fine arts classes.  Musical accompaniment was provided by Sparta's students and staff.   Middle School seventh and eighth grade students performed their Spring concert in the auditorium.

Culinary Arts students provided light refreshments. 

Door prized and raffle items were provided through the generosity of local businesses.

Sparta Police: Third Sparta Man Charged with DWI in One Week

SPARTA, NJ- For the third time in less than a week Sparta Police have charged a Sparta resident with driving while intoxicated.  On November 27. Cpl. Marc Rubino stopped a 2015 Jeep, after seeing it being driven down the middle of the road, according to police.
