Assault and Thefts in Westfield

March 7, 2014 10:30 a.m.

Michelle Paredes of Fords was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of cocaine. The arrest stemmed from an investigation of a motor vehicle crash in which Michelle Paredes was charged with driving while intoxicated. Michelle Paredes was issued a warrant and bail was set at $10,000.00 with a 10% cash option. Paredes posted bail and was released with a future court date.

A resident from the 300 block of Saint Georges Road reports being the victim of a theft. Victim states that unknown actor(s) removed the copper from the residence. Unknown amount of copper was taken from the house.

March 7, 2014 1:20 p.m.

Douglas Ferrer, 28, of Elizabeth was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $178.00. Ferrer was processed and posted bail.

March 7, 2014 3:38 p.m.

Jose A. Maldonado, 27, of Union City was arrested on an outstanding NCIC Warrant ($1,023.57) pursuant to an investigation at W. Grove Street/Rahway Avenue. Maldonado was transported to Headquarters, processed and released after posting bail.

March 7, 2014 8:40 p.m.

Chris Higginbotham, 31, of Westfield was arrested in the 400 block of Rahway Avenue pursuant to an investigation. Mr. Higginbotham had an outstanding warrant issued by the Westfield Municipal Court (bail $2,500.00). Higginbotham was released on his own recognizance per the Westfield Municipal Court pending a court date of April 9, 2014.

March 10, 2014 8:31 a.m.

A victim of a theft that occurred in the 1500 block of Lamberts Mill Road, reported his cell valued at $600.00 was taken. There are no suspect(s) at this time.

March 10, 2014 9:08 p.m.

After being stopped for motor vehicle violations, Stephanie Gaspar, 21, of Edison was arrested on an outstanding Fanwood traffic warrant. Gaspar was released after posting bail and processing.

March 12, 2014 7:56 a.m.

Edwin Reid, 37, of Scotch Plains was arrested as the result of a motor vehicle stop for a $239.00 Springfield traffic warrant. Reid posted bail and was assigned a new court date.
