SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Jo-Ann's Dance Studio – the Performing Arts Centre is gearing up for its 43rd season with registration set to begin next week.

While the current healthcare crisis has led to many changes, the studio, said owner Jo-Ann Faulkner, is adapting to safely welcome back students and staff this fall. "We want our families to feel safe and assured that we will be following all health requirements and guidelines for class sizes," she said.

The dance studio was mandated to close its doors back in March and over the months that followed, Jo-Ann's went virtual, offering a variety of Zoom classes. When it reopens this fall, said Faulkner, a hybrid model will be offered.

"Our motto has always been 'tradition' and for over 40 years we have been teaching traditional in-studio dance classes. Now, with everything going on, we are dedicated to 'tradition plus innovation," Faulkner told TAPinto South Plainfield, noting that all classes will be offered both in-person in the studio and online through Zoom."

"For those who wish to come into the studio, we will be here to welcome them back. I hope parents will want to send their kids in but I understand that some may not so we are going to offer both, in-person and online. Those who do not wish to come into the studio just yet will be able to log in from home," she said.

To ensure health and safety of all, the studio will also be adjusting class times and sizes in accordance with state regulations and, to limit capacity, no parents will be allowed in the building; according to Faulkner, exceptions will be made for those with very young children.

Social distancing will be implemented and sanitizing will take place in between all classes and at the end of each day. "All guidelines and regulations from the state will be strictly followed and enforced," she said.

Additionally, Jo-Ann's is offering three different options this year to new and returning families looking to register for the 2020-2021 season. On Thursday, Aug. 13. and Friday, Aug. 14 in-person registration, limited to one child and one parent at a time, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the studio; please note, masks must be worn.  For those who wish to limit contact at this time, Jo-Ann's is also offering registration by phone and email; new and returning families can reach out to Faulkner directly by calling (908) 561-5094 or emailing JOANNinNJ@aol.com

"At this point, we are planning on running a regular week like we always did; times may be different, certainly class size will be different, but we are hoping to get back to as normal as possible," said Faulkner, extending thanks to all those who have supported the studio through 'a time that has been very, very difficult.'

"My parents and students have all been right there with us and supported us every step of the way," she said. "I hope to see many familiar faces back here when we reopen in the fall."
