Showboat Atlantic City is celebrating Latino music and culture with its first-ever Latin Battle of the Bands at Backstage. The seven-week competition includes eight regional bands competing in an elimination format for a $5,000 grand prize.  Each week, two bands face off and are judged in originality, sound, crowd participation, performance and stage presence.  The three judges include a local radio host, a Latin concert promoter and a representative from Showboat Atlantic City, who will score them and announce the winner.   The final championship round will take place the evening of September 15 and will feature DJ Bebo spinning between the band performances.  The winning band will be announced and receive the grand prize at 1:45am.

“Backstage has become the premier entertainment venue having featured free concerts by big named-bands and talent such as the Gin Blossoms and LIVE’s Ed Kowalczyk,” said Jason Spencer Regional Director of Entertainment for Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City.

“Natural progression for a venue like Backstage brought us to the idea of hosting Atlantic City’s ‘Battle of the Latin Bands’ competition.  This seven week battle for $ 5,000 is intense entertainment and judging by the response we had last Thursday, fans and onlookers aren’t shy about voicing their favorites, which is great because audience participation is one of the competition’s five categories,” continued Spencer.
