Child prodigy Autumn de Forest will bring a diverse collection of artwork to Ocean Galleries in August, including one very special painting of the U.S. flag, which the ten-year old has donated in support of The Women And Cancer Fund.
Ocean Galleries hosts “Child Prodigy: A diverse collection of artwork by Autumn de Forest” at their Stone Harbor location (9618 Third Avenue) on Friday, August 3, 2012 through Sunday, August 12, 2012, where de Forest’s patriotic painting, “America (Healing Flag)” will be unveiled. The painting is a brilliant cross-pollination of two iconic American creations: Betsy Ross' seminal 13 star hand sewn American flag, and one of our country's pre-eminent mid-century painters, Jasper Johns’, series of "Flag" paintings that were a milestone in Contemporary Art. The artwork will become the cover of a 2013 CD (“Let Us In Americana”) benefiting The Women And Cancer Fund.
The “Let Us In Americana” CD is the follow up collection – the first, last year’s “Let Us In Nashville – A Tribute To Linda McCartney” (Reviver Records) - features varying recording artists-selected songs by Sir Paul McCartney. Autumn’s flag artwork lends itself well to the planned music - 2013 CD release featuring such artists as: Lee Ann Womack, Steve Earle and Allison Moorer, Jim Lauderdale, Sam Bush, Matraca Berg, Will Hoge, and Buddy Miller, to name a few.
