Atlantic City Race Course is back in action presenting its 6-Day Turf Festival which began Friday, April 27th and continues through Thursday, May 3rd. ACRC offers race fans 6 to 7 thoroughbred races daily across the plush Atlantic City turf course, still one of the finest grass courses in the country. First post is 3:30pm each day with gates opening at 11am for early handicappers and simulcast fans looking to catch the action from other tracks, as well.
The Annual Turf Festival has become somewhat of a mecca for the last decade, offering a spectacular, nationally-acclaimed program featuring the fullest fields in the country, attendance records of nearly 10,000 fans on track and challenging handicapping and payouts. At the time of this writing, Opening Day entries have closed in record time with 12 challengers carded for each of Friday’s six races. It appears the phenomena known as Atlantic City Race Course continues.
“It’s awe-inspiring,” remarks ACRC President Maureen Bugdon. “This region has such a fondness for Atlantic City Race Course. It’s the little seashore oval that keeps achieving against the odds. I credit our fans, first and foremost, including our owners and trainers. They’re the reason we’re here. Their loyalty and feedback are exceptional.” With a limited budget, Bugdon prioritizes the desires of track visitors into the upgrades and improvements for each Turf Festival. This year’s changes include “Simulcast Central,” a new Grandstand simulcast area offering signals from across the country, new and improved audio, a brand-new bar, additional concession stands and an expanded menu, more Paddock Area seating for guests, parking improvements and more.
“Our staff is working tirelessly as we speak to paint, polish, prep and present the very best we can to our guests for the 2012 Turf Festival. It’s our way of saying thank you for 67 years of patronage and loyalty. Our guests are the real royalty in the Sport of Kings and we’ve never forgotten that.”
Admission and parking for live racing is FREE. The meet’s sole stakes race, the 7th running of the $50,000-Added Tony Gatto Dream Big Stakes will take place on closing day, Thursday, May 3.
