CLARK, NJ – Atlantic Health System recently opened the Clark-North Pavilion, a new multispecialty center that will provide important outpatient services, including urgent care, easily accessible to residents of Clark and southern Union County.
Located on Central Avenue, the Clark-North Pavilion was created in 28,000-square feet of space renovated to bring together high quality, coordinated services needed by the community. Atlantic Health System designed the renovations in-house, with Vericon as construction manager. Construction for the new space cost $6 million, with an additional $5 million in technology, equipment and furnishing.
“As patients increasingly seek care within their own communities, we have doubled our efforts to bring needed high-quality services closer to where people live and work,” said Paul Marmora, vice president, ambulatory care for Atlantic Health System.
Many of the services in the North Pavilion will be directly connected to nearby Overlook Medical Center in Summit, such as the Institute for Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases, and Atlantic Surgical Oncology, which is part of Atlantic Health Cancer Care and the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center.
“The quality of care that we have developed at Overlook and throughout Atlantic Health System is something we are proud to bring closer to our patients,” said Alan Lieber, president of Overlook Medical Center. “We are excited to expand access to people in Clark and the surrounding area,”
In addition, many of the services and health care providers housed in the North Pavilion will be part of Atlantic Medical Group, Atlantic Health System’s network of more than 1,000 primary care and specialist physicians providing care throughout New Jersey.
“In addition to the numerous services offered by our providers at this new location, patients will be seamlessly connected to some of the region’s best specialists throughout our network,” said Steven Sheris, MD, president of Atlantic Medical Group.
The North Pavilion will include the following services:
- Surgical oncology
- Rheumatic and autoimmune diseases
- Urgent care, including occupational medicine
- Imaging services, including x-ray, CT and MRI
- Rehabilitation/Physical therapy
The Clark-North Pavilion utilized space formerly housing a fitness center, located on Central Avenue in the heart of the township’s shopping and retail district, and less than a mile from the Garden State Parkway. Clark mayor Sal Bonaccorso took part in a virtual ribbon-cutting for the new pavilion.
“As a community of growth, finding innovative new uses for traditional business space will position us well for the future,” Bonaccorso said. “We applaud Atlantic Health System for its investment to expand access to care for our residential and business communities.”
More services will also be added to the North Pavilion soon. In addition to the North Pavilion, Atlantic Health System plans to develop a South Pavilion, located at the former site of its Urgent Care location, on Commerce Place, in Clark, which will feature primary care services.
