Attempted Robbery at North Plainfield Liquor Store

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Below is an edited version of the North Plainfield Police Report issued on April 25, 2014.  It is our policy at The Alternative Press of North Plainfield and Green Brook to redact names and addresses of people who have been arrested but not convicted.  While we see value in releasing information regarding safety and police activity in our communities, we do not want to report names and addresses until a conviction is obtained.

WHEN: April 24, 2014 6:23 a.m.
WHERE: Sycamore Avenue, North Plainfield
CHARGE: Burglary
DETAILS: I responded to the location for a report of a burglary to a vehicle.  The vehicle owner stated someone broke into his vehicle overnight and stole his black leather jacket from the rear seat worth approximately $160.

WHEN: April 24, 2014 7:05 p.m.
WHERE: Watchung Avenue, North Plainfield
CHARGE: Robbery
DETAILS: An unknown black male attempted to shoplift a bottle of alcohol, but when he was confronted by the store owner, a struggle ensued.  During the struggle, the bottle of alcohol and a glass refrigerator door were damaged.  The actor fled the scene in a cream colored 4 door car.
