Audi Theft Thwarted on Main Street; Suspect Escapes in Stolen Lexus

CHATHAM, NJ - A man trying to break into a 2012 Audi R8 was chased away when the owner yelled at him through his office window. Before police could arrive, the suspect sped away in a stolen Lexus.

On Sept. 20 at 2:37 p.m., patrols responded to 26 Main Street on a report that an individual was attempting to break into a car in the parking lot. The owner of the car was looking out of his office window and saw a male trying to break into his 2012 Audi R8. He yelled at the individual who then ran to Black Lexus in the lot.

The victim, along with others from his company, ran to the parking lot and saw the suspect driving away in the Lexus. They were able to obtain the license plate number and it was determined that the Lexus was stolen from Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park earlier in the day. They also noticed a silver Mercedes speed out of the lot behind the Lexus, although they were not able to obtain the license plate on that car.

The suspect was described as a black male, six-feet tall and heavyset, wearing a white tee shirt, blue jeans, and a baseball cap worn backwards. This description matches the description of an individual who entered a Mercedes Benz in the same parking lot on September 11. In that incident, the car was entered and the suspect went through the glove box but nothing was taken.

Report prepared by Kevin O'Shea of the Chatham Borough Police Department

Closed Fund Open Mind

Closed-end funds (CEFs) can play an important role in a diversified investment portfolio. They offer benefits similar to those of an open-end mutual fund, but also sport unique advantages.

Unlike a traditional open-end mutual fund, CEFs have a fixed number of shares available to trade. Their price is not tied to the value of the underlying portfolio. The only way the number of shares ...
