WEST ORANGE. NJ - West Orange Police are continuing their search for the assailant in the June 16 shooting of a gas station attendant at the Delta Station located at 23 Park Avenue. The attendant was shot in the groin, while being robbed by a male individual in a white shirt and green ski mask, at approximately 9:45 p.m. The attendant returned to work in the morning and is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident was captured on video surveillance footage that has been released to the press. The video appeared on NBC news last night and shows the assailant attempting to rob the attendant, who initially resisted. The assailant, armed with a silver handgun, then shot him in the groin and rifled through the attendant's pockets before fleeing.

A white-colored vehicle, headlights off, was deemed 'suspicious' by police, and seen speeding out of West Orange into Orange.

Although the station has been robbed in the past, this is the first time an incident involved a shooting. Also under investigation is the possibility that this robbery is connected to a recent string of gas station armed robberies--the latest on June 9, in Ridgefield Park, where the attendant was shot in the stomach.

The West Orange Police Department is asking that anyone with information contact the department at 973-325-4020.
