The exciting sound of a four-part a cappella harmony will ring in the sancuary of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Sunday, Nov. 6. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. in the church located at 300 Shunpike Road in Chatham, and will feature the county’s premiere barbershop chorus, the Morris Music Men, as well as local quartet The Four Old Parts.
The Morris Music Men’s repertoire of a cappella crowd pleasers ranges from pop standards such as “Margie” to breezy show tunes such as a “My Fair Lady” medley to foot-stompers such as “You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby.” Clapping, foot tapping and singing along are definitely permitted.
The Morris Music Men chorus includes men of all ages from across North Jersey. They meet at 7:15 p.m. every Tuesday at Gloria Dei to sing and socialize. New singers are always welcome.
“If you’ve ever sung in a play, choir or chorus, or just warble in the shower,” says Jon Maizel, president of the Morris Music Men, “you and barbershopping could be made for each other.”
In lieu of an admission fee, free will donations will be accepted. All proceeds from the concert will benefit Gloria Dei.
More information about the chorus, its quartets and musical programs is available at the chapter’s website at www.MorrisMusicMen.org.
