CORAL SPRINGS, FL – The possibility of a Barnes & Noble store returning to The Walk in Coral Springs is getting closer, but it’s still not official, representatives said Friday.

A spokeswoman for Barnes & Noble said the company continues to negotiate with Amera Corporation, which operates The Walk on University Drive, for a smaller store to reopen next to the Trader Joe’s location.

“We are very excited to return to Coral Springs and hope to have more information to announce soon,” said Amelia Mulinder, head of public relations for Barnes & Noble, in a statement.

More than a year ago, Barnes & Noble closed its 27,000-square-foot store at The Walk after nearly 20 years at the location. Since then, the company has been negotiating with Amera Corporation about the terms of returning as a smaller store in the same spot.

Amera Corporation spokeswoman Gillian Johnson said her company is in the process of “finalizing the lease.”

She said in a statement that when Barnes & Noble closed its store on Feb. 15, 2020, the goal was to work with the company “to re-open a smaller store at the same location to match their new business model and format. We are very close to achieving that objective, and we are all eager to have them re-open.”

According to City of Coral Springs spokeswoman Lynne Martzall, the city has not received plans related to Barnes & Noble reopening in The Walk.

She added: “We are very excited Barnes & Noble is close to finalizing its lease agreement with Amera to return to The Walk.”
