CORAL SPRINGS, FL – A Barnes & Noble store is planning to open in The Walk in Coral Springs by Thanksgiving, ending months of speculation on whether the store would return to its old location, The Walk’s owners announced Saturday.

The book store chain signed Friday a lease with Amera Corporation, which operates The Walk on University Drive, to open its store next door to Trader Joe’s, said Gisele Rahael Britton of Amera Corporation.

She said Barnes & Noble is hoping to fast-track the construction to open before Thanksgiving.

The store will be a smaller version of its 27,000-square-foot store that closed more than a year ago after nearly 20 years at the location.

After closing, the building’s interior was reconstructed and divided in half, one side set aside for Trader Joe’s and the other for the expected return of Barnes & Noble.

Amera Corporation and Barnes & Noble have been negotiation for months to close the deal, which finally happened on Friday.

The Barnes & Noble store in Coral Springs closed on Feb. 15, 2020, as the company was reducing the number of its stores and employees across the nation.

The company is experimenting with opening smaller stores in response to declining revenues.
