SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic baseball team honored its senior players and scorekeepers with a special celebration on Senior Day prior to its game vs. Oratory Prep on Saturday, May 5. The graduating players are:

  • Shamar Crawford, OF
  • Tom Monahan, Utility
  • Owen Quinn, 1B 
  • Chris Armstrong, OF/DH 
  • Connor Trower, P/OF 
  • Tim Glastal, P/INF

The Vikings could not pull out a win for the seniors as Oratory Prep won the contest, 6-2. Chris Armstrong went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Shamar Crawford went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Owen Quinn went 1-for-3. Union Catholic scored its two runs on an RBI single by Jaden McReynolds and a sacrifice fly by Trower.

Connor Trower pitched five innings, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) with 7 strikeouts. Oratory scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and pushed across two more in the seventh on the way to a 6-2 victory.

The seniors joined their parents, coaches and Union Catholic Principal Sister Percylee Hart, RSM, in the ceremony, and scorekeepers Olivia Yarem, Katie Savoca,and Kathleen Springer were also honored for their hard work and dedication.
