BAYONNE, NJ - A Bayonne man said to be “in a highly excited state and making nonsensical statements,” was arrested in the early hours of Friday after leaving numerous vehicles he struck with “extensive damage.”

The man, identified as Nicholas Iorio, 37, allegedly hit the vehicles in the area of 21st Street and Route 440 after midnight and fled the scene. Pursued by a Port Authority of NYNJ police officer, Iorio eventually abandoned his own vehicle and fled on foot before being detained by that officer and an off-duty NYPD sergeant.
