BAYONNE, NJ - Bayonne police made a pair of arrests on subsequent days following investigations into two unrelated shootings.
According to Lt. Eric Amato, Jonathan G. Belle, 36, was arrested on Thursday after being identified as the shooter in a Wednesday incident. Officials state that police were called to the area of West 18th Street between Avenue C and Kennedy Boulevard on a report of shots fired. While no suspects or victims were located immediately Bayonne Police Detective Bureau began a “thorough and detailed investigation into the incident” that led to the suspect’s apprehension.
On Friday, Victor Molina, 31, was arrested in Jersey City and charged with a series of crimes including unlawful possession of a firearm for his alleged role in a shooting that took place on December 28. On that day, Bayonne police officers were called to the area of West 30th Street in the early morning hours on a report of shots fired.
Initially finding no evidence of a shooting, detectives returned the next day and located a home with fresh bullet holes and continued their investigation which led to the identification of the suspect.
Guns were not recovered in either incident and neither are believed to be linked to Tuesday’s shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
