Bears Defeat Hunterdon Central in First Round of State Tourney

March 6, 2014 at 3:56 PM

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The best thing for the Bears of East Brunswick High School to do in order to shake off the pain of their third loss of the season to St. Joe's was to get out there and get back to playing.  They had the chance to do just that on Tuesday night at home in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 Tournament, when they played host to Hunterdon Central.  A solid second quarter run was enough to withstand a third quarter Hunterdon comeback, and the Bears went on to a 61-47 victory.

Carl Taylor, Amir Bell, and Owen Summerer combined for 37 points, and the Bears had a big second quarter, leading 34-21 at halftime.  Hunterdon made a game of it in quarter three to cut the lead to 42-37 after three, but a parade to the foul line in the fourth quarter allowed the Bears to break the game open.

The stakes get raised significantly on Thursday evening, as the Bears go on the road to face the Somerset County Tournament Champs from Hillsborough High School. Tip time is at 7:00 P.M.

Falling by Jane Green

Falling by Jane Green (Berkley, 2016)

Every now and again I just love a mindless romance novel, and I've been a huge fan of Jane Green's since her first book, Jemima J: A Novel About Ugly Ducklings and Swans. Despite being classified as “chick lit,” the character and plot of Jemima J. has stayed with me for sixteen years after first reading it because the story ...
