BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Berkeley Heights Diversity Council invites the community to “We are Listening” a  Listening Session with the Berkeley Heights Police Department on Wednesday, July 1 at 6pm on Zoom.  Many community members have asked for an increased dialogue with our Berkeley Heights Police Department and the BH Police are eager to open up that dialogue.

The Listening Session will be held as a virtual gathering on Zoom on Wednesday, July 1 at 6pm.  To join the conversation, please register online.

Please join together with other members of the community to hear and share views of how to continue to make Berkeley Heights more inclusive and welcoming at this critical point in our nation’s history.  A “Listening Session” is meant as a community brainstorming session, a time to raise concerns and to hear ideas to help ensure that Berkeley Heights becomes increasingly inclusive and welcoming to all.  It will be a great opportunity for the BHPD to listen to and hear residents.  Just as the BHDC hosted “Beyond the March” a listening session a few weeks ago, the intent is for the BHPD to listen and take away questions so that they can take the time to respond to residents in a thoughtful way.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

Also coming up, the BHDC is hosting Just Mercy - Civil Rights Learning Opportunity - Group Watch & Discussion/Panel.  The movie, Just Mercy, based on the life work of Civil Rights attorney Bryan Stevenson, remains available to rent for free for the rest of June (watch it tonight!).  It’s a great resource for anyone interested in learning more about the systemic racism and bias in the criminal justice system.  Please watch the movie and the BHDC will follow up with a Zoom panel and discussion session during the week of July 6.  Please watch for more details very soon.

The Berkeley Heights Diversity Council was founded to honor and embrace the diverse cultures and perspectives within Berkeley Heights. Our goal is to spread awareness and inclusion.
