BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Berkeley Heights Recreation Department  Summer Playground Camp wrapped up their program today.   Over 350 elementary aged children from Berkeley Heights were enrolled in Playground Camp that gathered at Lower Columbia Park.  The schedule included seven weeks of themed events, special activities, sports, and crafts.

Carolyn George, Head Counselor, and her group of high school and college aged staff put together a fantastic program.  Every week the kids could look forward to “special” events along with the daily scheduled sports, crafts, games, and playground activities.   Special days included  “water” events, face painting, balloon sculpting, petting zoo, HAM radio, drama program offered by Wharton Music Center, special visits from Mayor Joe Bruno and police officers, and children could sign-up and pay $10 to cool off at the nearby Berkeley Swim Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Parents loved the flexibility of the drop off and pick-up system.  Children could attend as often as they’d like.  Food and snacks could be ordered, which added to the convenience and fun!

The Fall Recreation Schedule will be available shortly.  Registration will be available on-line.  Look for all the opportunities for adult exercise classes with day care options; pre-school fun bunch & lunch, arts & crafts, fun & games and creative movement; and a full schedule of after school programs.
