BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Berkeley Heights’ Summer Concert Series wrapped up on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m., with community members turning out in droves to Memorial Park. Despite rain the previous day, the weather was pleasantly cool throughout the concert, which ran until 9:30.
Tonight’s concert marked a record turnout, with over seven hundred in attendance, armed with lawn chairs, strollers, and picnic blankets.
The band Beatlemania Again was the featured entertainment of the night, and let concertgoers take a historical and musical ride back in time. The band performed over 35 of the Beatles’ greatest hits, and were decked out in full costumes to the delight of attendees across all ages. While the band was a great draw for music lovers, the rest of Memorial Park remained open for children to take a break and play, while their parents listened to the music. The charismatic band interacted with the audience and got the entire crowd singing the chorus of Hey Jude. The final encore song, Twist and Shout, left the crowd dancing and wanting more.
Berkeley Heights’ Concert in the Park Series is primarily sponsored by the Suburban Chamber of Commerce. Several other local businesses, as well as The Rotary Club of Berkeley Heights and the Berkeley Aquatic Club, are seasonal sponsors. In addition, tonight’s concert was specifically sponsored by the YMCA of Berkeley Heights and Yogoccino.
This concert marks the finale of Berkeley Height’s wildly successful concert series. With such a great response from the community this year, organizers expect it to make a full-fledged return next summer, with a variety of new acts in the lineup.
