BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ. - With summer increasing sun exposure to skin, even for those not at the beach, the Bernards Township Health again has scheduled its annual skin cancer screening for residents of Bernards Township and other member towns who currently are not under the care of a dermatologist.
The screening has been scheduled two Tuesday dates, July 15 and Aug. 12.
The screening will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both dates at the Fellowship Village Wellness Center at 9000 Fellowship Road in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township.
Pre-registration is required and can be made at the Bernards Township Health Department, 262 S. Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge or by phone at (908) 204-2520.
According to the township Health Officer, Lucy Forgione, “Research shows about 800,000 Americans are newly diagnosed with skin cancer every year, making it the most common form of the disease. Fortunately, it is one of the easiest of all cancers to detect and it is the cancer that is treated most successfully."
This program, conducted by a board certified dermatologist, will include a full body exam, and prevention information in conjunction with the guidelines from the American Academy of Dermatology. All participants will receive a copy of their screening results.
The suggested donation is $10 for residents of Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Peapack-Gladstone, Long Hill Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township and Chester Borough. The suggested donation for non-residents is $20 which is used to cover the cost of supplies.
