Beatriz (Betty) Manetta, founder of Argent Associates will deliver the 2014 Female Entrepreneur Lecture at Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday, March 28, 2014.
Argent Associates, a certified minority- and female-owned company started by Manetta in 1998, is a supply-chain management and IT service provider focused on government, enterprise, and telecommunications markets. The nation-wide corporation has 11 U.S. locations and manages $1.2 billion in customer telecom assets and inventories.
Manetta worked for over 20 years in the telecommunications industry with AT&T and Lucent Technologies, and has extensive international experience, conducting business in the telecommunications sector in the Middle East and Latin America for over 10 of those years.
The Women Presidents’ Organization ranked Argent Associates as the No. 1 Fastest Growing Women-Led Company in the U.S., 9th in the Nation in the top 100 Hispanic American Owned Businesses in the U.S., and 8th in the top 100 Diversity Owned Businesses in New Jersey.
Numerous organizations have recognized Manetta for her leadership and accomplishments. NJBIZ honored her as one of 50 top women leaders in New Jersey for 2010. She received the 2001 Entrepreneurial Excellence Award from Dialogue on Diversity and the 2003 Entrepreneur of the Year by HISPANIC Magazine. In 2004, Manetta was honored by Telecommunications (LISTA) as "Person of the Year.”
Manetta serves on the Board of Directors as Vice President of the Minority Business Roundtable in Washington, D.C. She serves on the Board of Directors for Dialogue on Diversity in Washington, the Commerce and Industry Association of NJ and the Hispanic Business Council of NJ and serves as a Director for the U.S. Hispanic Advocacy Association in NJ. Betty is an active participant with the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Women's President Organization. Manetta also serves on the Seton Hall University Board of Regents.
Born in Argentina, Betty grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Accounting from Rutgers University and holds a Masters Degree in International Studies from Seton Hall University.
The annual lecture will be held in conjunction with the awards ceremony for the 2014 New Jersey Idea Competition, a program designed to nurture an entrepreneurial mindset among high school students.
The event will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. and the lecture will start at 7:15 p.m. in Lenfell Hall in Hennessy Hall, on FDU’s College at Florham, located at 285 Madison Ave., Madison, NJ 07940.
