BERKELEY HEIGHS, NJ - After suffering a tough loss against Florham Park on Wednesday night, the Berkeley Heights Community Pool swim team was able to bounce back with a dominant win over Madison Thursday night.
Once the meet was in full swing, it was apparent that BHCP had come to win. Almost every race was down to the wire; even races that only had a couple of lanes full (instead of all six) were close and exciting to watch. Madison put up a strong fight throughout the meet despite the fact that they were severely outnumbered by the Berkeley Heights swimmers.
Chris Micca had one of the best swims of the night 50-meter freestyle. Down with less than a lap remaining, Micca was able to make up lost ground and out touch Madison’s swimmer by a small margin.
After the race, assistant coach Kerry Sheridan commented on how exciting it is for the younger kids to get big wins like Micca did.
“It really boosts their confidence (for future races), and it adds to the fun,” Sheridan said.
BHCP’s next meet will be Monday at Verona at 6PM before returning home for their final meet of the season on July 24th. For more information, you can visit www.bhcpool.com/swimteam.
