John Lamb of Randolph prepares the traditional rendition of "Monster Mash" with the Harmonium Outreach Chorus for the Halloween Concert at Grace Madison October 27 at 3.

It’s back! The Family-Friendly Halloween Concert presented by Harmonium Choral Society and Grace Community Music will take place (barring a blizzard) Sunday October 27 at 3 p.m. at Grace Church, 4 Madison Ave. at Kings Rd., Madison NJ.  Admission is by freewill donation at the door. Please also bring a non-perishable food donation if you can.  The concert is appropriate for ages 3-300. Reception follows.  For more information call 973-377-0106x17.

The concert will feature the Grace Church School Choirs (50 choristers ages 7-17), the Harmonium Outreach Chorus, and spooky organ music. It is appropriate for kids, but adults love it as well. It is filled with musical gems from Bach’s “Toccata in d minor” to the Rossini’s “Cat Duet”. The Grace School Choirs will sing their favorites including “Monkeys,” Badgers and Hedgehogs,” and Britten’s “Old Abram Brown” and “Cuckoo.”  There will be a “pirate set” with School Choir II singing “The Pirate Child,” Daughters of Zion (high school girls) singing “The Sea-Witch,” and The Gargoyles (teen boys) singing “Down Among the Dead Men”.  Assistant organist Eric Stroud will appear as Davey Jones at the organ.  Finales include “The Cremation of Sam Magee” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” with special guest Connor Dugan on fiddle.  He will be joined by a band including Marching Dodgers Brian Rigby on guitar and Justin Kemp on drums.  Other cool selections include “Zombie Jamboree,” “Double Trouble,” and “Adiemus.” Door donations defray our costs and we encourage you to bring a non-perishable food donation as well for local food banks.  A reception follows.

Dr. Anne Matlack directs the choirs at Grace and Harmonium Choral Society, including the Outreach Chorus which is available to sing in the schools.  She holds degrees from Yale and Cincinnati Conservatory, and studied organ with David Mulbury and Charles Krigbaum. You can book the Harmonium Outreach Chorus for your school by calling the Arts Council of the Morris Area at 973-285-5115.
