HOBOKEN, NJ - A Hoboken man has been arrested by police after being spotted on a stolen bicycle.

On August 7, a woman stopped by the Hoboken Police Department and reported her bicycle stolen to Officer Anthony Rutkowski. The bicycle—a silver Dahon folding bike—was parked in a gated area near 7th and Park Avenue, she said.

Just before 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Det. Michael Losurdo was in uniform near 3rd and Madison Street when he observed a male riding bike matching that description.

Det. Losurdo conducted a stop and initiated an investigation into the bicycle. Det. Fabien Quinones and Det. Christine Collins assisted with the investigation. The investigation eventually confirmed that the bicycle was stolen, and Ruben Ocasio, 48, Hoboken, was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.

The investigation led to charging Ocasio with the initial theft of the bicycle, and he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

The bicycle was immediately returned to the owner.
