BLOOMFIELD, NJ- With many locals still feeling the financial effects of the pandemic, food pantries have seen a significant increase in the number of people that rely on assistance for basic grocery needs. The Bloomfield High School Key Club banded together and were able to make a significant food donation to help out those in need.

The club, led by Alexandra Gasparri and Peter Bodar, accumulated and donated 229 boxes of cereal to the Human Needs Pantry in Montclair, NJ.  "We are extremely proud of our Key Clubbers for running such a successful virtual Cereal Drive! Over the last 3 weeks, our Key Club members were able to earn service hours by dropping off boxes of cereal in the donation bin outside of the high school. We're super thankful to our members and all the outside community members who donated to our drive! We would also like to thank the Bloomfield Kiwanis Club for all their support and help with advertising the drive. We hope this helps residents of Bloomfield, as well as the surrounding towns, who are still in need during these difficult times," said Gasparri.

The Key Club received plenty of support in transporting the boxes from the Bloomfield High School to the Human Needs Pantry.  Club Co-President Gwen Reoch, Vice Presidents Michelle Escobar and Caitlin Ennis helped load the boxes up for transport. Bloomfield Fire Department Fire Official Gennaro Ilaria helped transport the donation as well as Vanessa Phipps of the Human Needs Pantry who also assisted in advertising for the cereal drive.
