11/18/2020-Elias Rodriguez age 37 from Bronx NY-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting incident. Mr. Rodriguez concealed numerous items, a Ring doorbell, Dewalt headphones, gloves & batteries and attempted to leave the store without paying. Loss Prevention apprehended Mr. Rodriguez until police arrival. The items valued at $185.00 were returned to Home Depot. Mr. Rodriguez was issued a summons and has a pending court date.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
11/17/2020-Officers responded to First Avenue on report of a MV Theft. The owner parked his blue 2016 Honda Accord in front of 7 First Avenue and left the vehicle running while he went to pick up food. When he returned, the vehicle was gone. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.
11/17/2020-Officers responded to Oakwood Avenue on report of a MV Theft. The owner parked her white 2017 Nissan Sentra in her driveway between the hours of 7:30 and 9:40 p.m. on 11/17/2020. When she returned to the vehicle, it was not stolen. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside the vehicle. This incident is under investigation.
11/19/2020-Officers responded to 374 Bloomfield Avenue (Lynnes Nissan) on report of a MV Theft. The store manager is reporting a white 2019 Nissan Altima stolen from their parking lot. The vehicle was last observed on August 4, 2020. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.
11/16/2020-Jacob Lamptey age 29 of East Orange NJ-Officers responded to the area of Grove Street on report of a package theft. A witness observed an African American male enter their neighbor’s property and take packages that were on the front steps. Patrol officers located Mr. Lamptey carrying the packages from the residence. Mr. Lamptey was arrested, issued a summons and released with a pending court date.
11/19/2020-Officers responded to the area of Grove Street on report of a package theft that occurred on 11/18/2020 at 7:04 p.m. The resident’s Amazon packages were delivered to her front steps. When she returned home, the packages were gone. The packages were a cell phone and bbq grill cover. The items are valued at $140.00. This incident is under investigation.
11/19/2020-An officer took a report of a stolen cell phone that occurred inside the Staples Store at 135 Bloomfield Ave. The complainant left his cell phone on a shelf inside the store. When he returned to recover his phone, the phone was gone. This incident is under investigation.
11/21/2020-A resident from North 16th Street reports that a package valued at $55.00 was taken from his front porch at 1:00 p.m. on 11/21/2020. An area resident observed a Hispanic male, walk up to the porch and remove the package. The suspect then fled the area. This incident is under investigation.
11/17/2020-Officers responded to the area of Montgomery Street and Willet Street on report of an armed robbery. A male victim was walking on Montgomery Street and was approached by two African American males. They brandished a handgun and pointed it at him and demanded his money and cell phone. The suspects fled on Mill Street towards the Township of Belleville. This incident is under investigation.
11/22/2020-Officers responded to the area Grove Street @ Elmwood Avenue on report of shots fired. The victim was driving in the area and a vehicle cut him off and stopped in front of him. A suspect described as an African American male began arguing with the victim. The suspect then brandished a handgun and fired it into the air. The suspect then pointed the handgun at the victim and stated his intention to kill the victim. The suspect then fled the area. This incident is currently under investigation.
Theft from Auto:
11/20/2020-An Officer took a telephone report of a theft from a vehicle that occurred on 11/20/2020 at 9:00 p.m. the complainant’s vehicle was parked in front of 280 Broad Street and was left unlocked. A suspect(s) entered the vehicle and removed $200.00 cash from the center console. This incident is under investigation.
