Shoplifting: 

09/10/2020-Jose Carrasco age 47 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting. Mr. Carrasco attempted to exit the store without paying for 8 packs of Diablo saw blades valued at $119.00. Mr. Carrasco was issued a summons for shoplifting and released with a pending court date. 

09/13/2020-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a shoplifting. The manager observed a Caucasian female enter the store wearing a Yankees baseball cap, blue shorts and white shirt. This female concealed numerous items valued at $150.00 into her backpack and left the store without paying. This incident is under investigation.

Theft: 

09/11/2020-An Officer took a report of a theft that occurred outside of Extra Self Storage located at 104 Orange Street. The complainant was unloading her storage locker into her vehicle when an unknown person stole a picture and a coffee table that she had outside of the vehicle. This incident is under investigation. 

09/12/2020-Officers responded to the area of 80 Franklin Street on report of a theft. On 9/11/2020-9/12/2020 between 11:00 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., a resident parked his 2019 grey Honda Accord on Franklin Street. When he went to his vehicle, all 4 of the vehicles rims and tires were taken from the vehicle. The four rims and tires are valued at $1000.00. The wheels are described as being black low profile sport tires, with silver cut outs in the rims. This incident is under investigation. 

Theft from Autos: 

09/08/2020-Officers responded to the area of Alyson Place on report of several thefts from autos. Area residents report that their unlocked vehicles were entered and rummaged through during the overnight hours of 9/8/2020-9/9/2020. Several small items were taken from the vehicles. This incident is under investigation. 

09/08/2020-Officers responded to Burnett Street on report of a theft from auto. A resident reported that sometime overnight on 9/7/2020-9/8/2020, their unlocked vehicle was entered and rummaged through. At the time of the report, nothing was taken from the vehicle. This incident is under investigation. 

09/11/2020-Luis Santiago age 26 of Bloomfield, NJ. Officers received a call of a suspicious male in the area of Smith Street checking door handles of vehicles. Officers responded to the area and located Mr. Santiago matching the description. Officers located several vehicles that were entered and items taken. Mr. Santiago was arrested and charged with the theft and drug paraphernalia. He has a pending court date. 

MV Theft: 

09/07/2020-Officers responded to Washington Place on report of a stolen motor vehicle. A resident’s vehicle was stolen between 08:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on 9/7/2020. The vehicle is a 2020 white Mazda CX9 NJ registration E36CEF. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. The vehicle was recovered on 9/8/2020 in Belleville, NJ after an accident. 

After an investigation, Owen Gonzalez age 19 from Newark, NJ was arrested and charged with theft. He has a pending court date. 

09/08/2020-Officers responded to Darling Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft that occurred between 9/7/2020-9/8/2020 during the overnight hours. A resident parked his 2020 white Ford Escape at 6:00 p.m. on 9/7/2020. When he woke up at 6:45 a.m. on 9/8/2020, the vehicle was gone. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. 

09/08/2020- Officers responded to LaFrance Avenue on report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant stated that someone stole his work van within a 90 minute time period. The van was parked at 8:15 p.m. and when he returned at 9:45 p.m., the vehicle was gone. The vehicle is a 2007 white Ford Econoline van, NJ registration C68HGY. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation. 

09/11/2020- Officers responded to 249 Belleville Avenue on report of a stolen motorcycle. The owner of the motorcycle parked his 2014 blue Yamaha motorcycle in the driveway on 9/10/2020 at 7:30 p.m. When he returned on 9/11/2020 at 07:30 a.m., the motorcycle was gone. The motorcycle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.
