BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Eight in a row!  The Bloomfield Boys Varsity Wrestling team is on a tear as they spoiled the return of Bengal alum Rami Ratel, new head coach of Cedar Grove, in a 40-31 win over the Panthers on Tuesday evening in The Pit at Bloomfield High School.
The dual began with the 182-pound weight class through 285 pounds, then continued from 106 to 172.
The struggling Panthers gave the Bengals all they could handle, leading Bloomfield 31-28 going into the final two bouts.

Sophomore Alex Soja at 160 pounds continued his improvement at the varsity level with a pin-fall victory over Jakub Zajac at 3:05 to put Bloomfield in the lead 34-31.
The 170-pound class was forfeited to Jarred Garcia by Cedar Grove to give Bloomfield the 40-31 win.
Other key bouts saw Kevin Adorno continue his domination at 145 pounds after a physical victory over Nicholas Catalano by pin at 2:47.  Nicholas Coletta of Cedar Grove upset Ramin B-Razavi by pin at 1:51.
Gerald Van Baelen (113), Jacob Febo (132), Zach Andruchowitz (195), Javon Whitehead (220), and Xavier Gulley (285) scored wins for the Bengals.

The eight straight victories have launched Bloomfield and Coach Ryan Smircich to an impressive 12-3 overall record, as they stand atop the SEC Liberty Division at 4-0.
Bloomfield enjoyed a clean sweep last Saturday as they beat host squad North Bergen 40-24, Hackensack 57-18, and Morristown 40-36 in a 4-team meet at North Bergen High School.
Cedar Grove falls to 1-11 overall and remain 0-4 in SEC American Division matches.  Their only win came against Hasbrouck Heights on January 9.
The Bengals participate in the Essex County Tournament Thursday 4 pm and Friday 4 pm at Codey Arena in West Orange.
